Hello,
These days, is it compulsory for the sponsor to produce an original birth certificate at the time of B application visa application for parents ?
I dont have an original birth certificate. I do have affidavit of birth given by my uncle, and attested by a notary in the year 2000. I also have a letter from the corporation office stating that my birth was not registered. Is this sufficient ?
Please help asap.
Thanks

My mother-in-law got the visa last week in Delhi. She was not asked to show any Birth Certificate of the sponsoror at the time of interview.

I guess it depends.

Chennai and Delhi ( and Kolkata I think ) do not insist on a BC for visitor's visa but Mumbai does for some reasons. If a BC is not available, any other evidence which documents the parent child relationship and that has the names of parents and the children will do, e.g. affidavits, letter for no BC, school records, ration cards, voter card, etc. It is better to have multiple documents.
